Terms

The agreement.

The rules for using Lately, written to be read.

Last updated: 29 September 2026

1. Who this is between

These terms are an agreement between you and Lately, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (“Lately”, “we”). By creating an account or using Lately, you agree to them and to our privacy policy.

2. Who can use Lately

3. How Lately works

Lately gives you a few suggestions a day, one hello (a written first message) a day, and a maximum of three conversations at a time. New conversations get a private decision on day three, and quiet chats close after a few days. These rules are part of the service, and we may adjust them to make Lately better. We’ll tell you about meaningful changes in the app.

4. How you behave

Be kind and be real. You don’t:

See also Safety. We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and report serious cases to the police.

5. Your content

What you post stays yours. You give us a licence to show it on Lately and to process it to run the service, for as long as it’s on Lately. You’re responsible for having the right to post it.

6. Meeting people

We check profiles, but we can’t check everyone’s intentions. You’re responsible for your own interactions, online and in person. Please read our tips for meeting safely.

7. Paid features

Lately is free. If we ever offer paid extras, we’ll show the price and terms clearly before you buy, and they’ll never let anyone get around the core rules. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play follow their refund rules too.

8. Ending

You can delete your account at any time in the app. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless that would put someone at risk.

9. Liability

We do our best to keep Lately running and safe, but it’s provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect damage, or for what other people do. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

10. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies. If you have a complaint, mail [email protected] first; we’d much rather solve it together. Otherwise, disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, without affecting your rights as a consumer.
